Change is something that some love, but most hate. It’s the one thing that always holds us back because change even if for the good, is hard. Human nature allows us to get comfortable in what we do everyday. Imagine it’s Friday night and you are thinking of where to eat out… most likely if it’s not pre-planned you are going to go to the same restaurants as usual.
Change is uncomfortable in all situations, what if I hate it, what if I love it, what if I do it and regret it, what if I don’t do it… these are all questions people start asking themselves when they know change is coming. Now if you are someone who likes changes these questions excite you, yet there is still something that holds you back from changes that affect your lifestyle.
For me change is just about doing it. I love change as long as it’s for the good :) For me changing is a way of life, but depends on what stage of change you are in. If you are ready for a change or constantly say, I wish I could… or wouldn't it be great if… or I want to... something along those lines now you need the ‘DO” part. Even though it won’t be easy just know that change is coming, and it only takes doing something 21 one days in a row for it to change…. and take effect (don’t believe me.. try it).
Here are three things to try and change in your life now. I’m going to be trying these on my own to help towards this healthy fit lifestyle.
1. Drink water! A LOT OF IT!! Most people don’t drink enough water, so carry around more then you can drink.. try a gallon!
2. Portion control, it’s hard living in America where everything is twice the size of your head. This is where I know I struggle, but some tips and tricks are in the palm of your hand… hint hint.
3. Exercise is key, but this doesn't mean you go balls to the walls (excuse my french), but this is the hardest thing to change for sure.
As I sit here and right this I know this won’t be easy and I know change is needed, but I myself am stuck in a rut. So, today do one thing different, and stop having excuses. Eat smaller, drink water, do more. Do 50 sit ups more than yesterday or just do 50 sit ups over all it’s better than nothing.
Here’s to change!!! Staying Active,Being Positive, & Increasing Strength of our mind body and soul!

1. Drink water! A LOT OF IT!! Most people don’t drink enough water, so carry around more then you can drink.. try a gallon!
- You should drink an ounce of water for each pound you weigh.
- Try it for a week and see how much better you feel.
2. Portion control, it’s hard living in America where everything is twice the size of your head. This is where I know I struggle, but some tips and tricks are in the palm of your hand… hint hint.
- The size of your stomach is about the size of your fist (don’t quote me I’m not a doctor) so it’s super easy to overeat.
- Try eating a small handful of each section on your your plate, meaning… Meat (AKA protein) should be the size of your palm. Veggies (Not including starches...) size of an apple or slightly larger (this is where you can overeat to a point) Small amount of grains (again slightly smaller than the size of your hand).
- After eating wait 10 minutes if still hungry go for more veggies or meat again the size of your palm.
- If you go out to eat order a healthy meal, and then ask for a box as soon as your food comes out and box half of it up right then and there.
- You’re body is going to know if you are still hungry, but this is where more meals a day will start to kick in. Guess what if you are eating less and doing more exercise you will be hungrier more often!
3. Exercise is key, but this doesn't mean you go balls to the walls (excuse my french), but this is the hardest thing to change for sure.
- Remember even if you’re running slow you’re running faster than those sitting on a couch.
- Not a gym person, totally OK… now on demand and YouTube are great for finding workouts.
- Make a Pinterest board, but actually do them instead of just pinning them and stick to them.
- You can do things at home, sometimes I do it in my bedroom on the floor before getting in the shower, it’s better than doing nothing.
- Ease yourself into something, and if you want help I’m always around and can always use a buddy.
